Not sure how often you should communicate with your customers? Our sales and web marketing expert, Rebecca Dutcher, shares her thoughts…..
Congratulations, you’re ready to get started in email marketing to your customers and prospects. One question that is often asked is just how often should you send an email to your list(s)? That can vary by your overall goals.
- Is your goal to showcase expertise?
- Is it to nurture your list of prospects?
- Is it to provide company news and updates?
Similar to committing to creating a blog or new website content on a regular basis, your email marketing should be consistent. It should also add value to those on your lists. I would recommend starting with monthly email messages. That’s only 12 times a year. You can find 12 valuable topics and insights to share with your subscribers, right? I sure hope so!
Create your email marketing strategy. Make a list of topics to start your email marketing calendar. What are some of the questions you and your staff are asked the most? What are the valuable tips you share with your customers and prospects? You should find it’s pretty easy to get started with topics. Then, write your messages to your customer or prospect. Be personable, respectful and helpful.
Provide a way for them to reach out to you with other questions or ways they can get more information from you, i.e. a link to a page on your website with more information about the topic, or a link to download an article or watch a video about the topic.
Are monthly email messages enough?
Maybe not. If you find yourself able to offer valuable information more often, do it. Still, getting started is the hardest part. Commit to the once a month, and fill in more when you can. I have some emails I get weekly, which are quick, valuable messages and tips. That takes planning and development an email marketing process. You can do it too; the most important thing is to start. Start now. Make a list of 12 things you can share.
Ready? Go!
